What is the West ?

.
Freedom and Love.
The two columns upon which the West stands. Everything here emanates from them.
First, Freedom. Unless you're free, you're not an individual, you cannot be yourself or fulfill your potential. Freedom calls for justice and democracy, the two pillars upon which society should stand.
Then, Love. Love without freedom is not truthful. Only in freedom can people consider others more important than themselves. Yet, freedom without love is emptiness. Love connects us with others and makes us grow up. It also provides us with the greatest power there is: the power of giving.
Whenever the West forgets these principles (for there are no more principles in the West than these two) its soul is corrupted and decadence triumphs. Just like nowadays.
But Freedom and Love are as absolutely human as those who live by them: they can always be restarted, if we want them to shine in our lives.
Rise again, people of the West!
For Freedom and Love alone!
