Year of the Pig/Boar

Today’s New Moon (16h. 14m. UT) brought the Chinese New Year. This year is the Year of the Pig/Boar.
Traditionally known as ‘The Pig Passing the Mountain’, due to the element Fire, this is certainly a wild pig, a boar on the move. Having a Yin polarity gives it a more secondary/passive nature, also confirmed by the Astral Force 2 (direction Southwest) which is related to nurturing (people with this Astral Force are specially in focus this year, even if their Sign is not Pig/Boar). Therefore, this boar is less solitary and more under control than the Yang counterpart, but it is also very adventurous: it is going places, it is changing life patterns. Don’t try to stop it, or you’ll see how dangerous a raging boar can be. Join it and you may have a very warm and pleasant journey.
Honesty, generosity and well-being are of the utmost importance for this Sign.Tricks and treason are ruthlessly punished (it is in many aspects akin to the Sign of Scorpio). The Pig/Boar is also very industrious and monetarily lucky (remember the piggy-bank). Be truthful to it and it will be the best friend you can find.
Happy New Year!

This only refers to the Year Sign (the visible). In Chinese astrology each individual has got two more Signs: one for the Month (the self), the other for the Hour (the hidden self). I’m of the Signs of Pig/Boar, Rooster and Rat. The three animals define my personality, so they say. (Alexander, the Great was Rat, Monkey, (probably) Pig/Boar and Ayrton Senna was Rat, Cat/Rabbit, Ox).
If you want to find your three Chinese Signs, be sure to use a lunar calendar, because each month begins with the New Moon and there’s no correspondence with the solar calendar. I’m of the Sign of Libra, so I should be of the Month of the Dog, but I was born in September, in the previous moon, so I’m of the Month of the Rooster (akin to the Sign of Virgo). Also those who are of the Sign of Capricorn always belong to the previous Year Sign (those born in January 2007 are still of the Year of the Dog), while those who are of the Sign of Aquarius can be either the last of the previous Year Sign or the first of the new Year Sign (today we are still in the Sign of Aquarius). This happens because the Chinese Year starts with the January/February New Moon. Finally, check if your time of birth has no added time included (such as Summer time). Each Sign rules two hours and one more hour can place you in the wrong sign.
After this, if you want to go deeper, check the element, the polarity, the direction and the Astral Force. Only after this your Chinese horoscope will be complete, although many people believe the three animals are enough. Either way, enjoy it !
